Stop telling me what to watch!!

I don't have kids, so maybe I'm looking at this from a different perspective than those with kids. I was listening, as I always do, to Howard Stern on the radio on the way into work (after stopping for a dozen donuts for our Friday morning staff 'meeting'). Howard was talking about Bush's proposal to start sensoring cable TV and satellite radio (don't even get me started). For discussion, Howard had on the phone a Congressman, Bernie Sanders from Vermont Bernie (first I'd heard of him). He is proposing legislation (HR-14-40) to prevent the government from doing this. Howard brought up a good point. The V-chip is readily available, and comes with most new TV's bought now. WHY NOT USE IT???? And, for those afraid of the new doo-dads, WHY NOT JUST TURN THE SHOW OFF if it bothers you? Also, I have Comcast digital cable, and there are parental blocks you can use to control what your kids watch. People, is that not enough? Are you so inept that you need the government to step in and fix this horrible problem for you???
